ISCA Recognizes Excellence in Chiropractic Leadership

Indianapolis - The Indiana State Chiropractic Association (ISCA) honored outstanding leaders and dedicated professionals during their 2011 Fall Conference, October 21-23, 2011 at the Wyndham Indianapolis West.

Honored as DC of the Year was Dr. Peter Furno, Zionsville, Indiana. This award recognizes an ISCA member who has worked for the benefit of the Chiropractic profession through their devotion of time, resources and personal commitment as well as exhibits a strong moral character and ethics in their professional and personal life.

Dr. Furno was in private practice for more than 30 years and currently serves as First Vice President to the association. "Dr. Furno is a strong supporter of the association and remains dedicated to our causes to advance the profession. His work through involvement in both the legislative and insurance committees has been outstanding," said Dr. Robert Tennant, President of the ISCA.  

Recognized for their outstanding service to the organization and leadership in their field with 2011 President's Awards were Dr. James Cox II, Fort Wayne; Dr. Michael Phelps, Martinsville; and Dr. Furno Executive Director Pat McGuffey was also recognized with an Honorary, non-DC President's Award.

"I continue to be inspired by our association's dedicated leaders. This is an outstanding group of individuals who work tirelessly to create opportunities that support our cause. This work is integral to the transformation of the future of health care and remains true to our focus of providing superior care to the millions of patients who need it," said Dr. Tennant.

Rep. Jeff Espich was honored as the ISCA Legislator of the Year. Rep. Espich (District 82) has been a member of the House of Representatives since 1972, representing Allen, Wells and Grant Counties. With more than three decades of public service, he has served as Speaker Pro Tempore, Chairman of the House of Labor Committee, Chairman of the House Commerce Committee and Chairman of the House Ways and Means committee and works closely with legislation that involves state tax and finance.

The ISCA organizes two educational conferences each calendar year for Doctors of Chiropractic in Indiana. More than 140 Doctors of Chiropractic attended the 2011 ISCA Fall conference; the ISCA Spring Conference is scheduled for February 24-26 at the Hilton Indianapolis North. Dr. Kim Christensen will be the keynote speaker at the Spring event.
